Latest news about five young people who have been sentenced to death in Isfahan, Iran
According to a report that we’ve received from Isfahan, today, 30 July 2020, at around 2 pm, local time, one of the families of those sentenced to death in Isfahan were able to visit their son in prison. The other families have been told that this family, unlike them, were granted a visit because they hadn’t protested.
The authorities have taken written commitments from the families to keep quiet and not to give interviews anywhere.
Last night, the families of the youths and groups of people in Isfahan gathered in front of the courthouse until morning. At around 3am, the security forces dispersed the protesters, but an hour later, the families came back and continued the protest in front of the courthouse and in other places nearby.
The families have announced they will continue to hold their gatherings until their loved ones are freed.
We hope that none of those loved ones have been executed. The pressure must continue until the death sentences of all the protesters are revoked and they are released.
We can save these youths only by protesting and echoing their voices. Silence only makes it easier for the government to carry out its crimes. We ask all the people of Isfahan and the relatives and friends of those sentenced to death to regularly report the developments, encourage people to take part in the protests, and to keep on contacting every news outlet.
The movement against executions is vast and very powerful. We must do everything in our power to step up the protest to revoke the death sentences of the young protesters.
