The Worker-communist Party of Iran – Organisation Abroad is writing to unequivocally condemn the meeting organized by “Business Forum Iran” with the backing and participation of German Officials being held in Frankfurt on 23 May 2014. The meeting, which aims to address the expansion of economic relations and German investments in Iran, is being held despite widespread executions, arrests of political opponents and trade unionists, and increasing social-political restrictions by the Rouhani government.
During the eight months since Rouhani has taken office, over 400 people have been executed, hundreds have been arrested and imprisoned under various pretexts and harassment of trade unionists, student activists and women rights campaigners continues unabated. Collaboration with the repressive regime does a disservice to the resisting people of Iran and effectively aids and abets the repression.
The WPI condemns this policy of appeasement. The regime’s officials should be arrested and prosecuted for their crimes against the people of Iran not meeting with German government and industry officials on expanding economic ties.
We demand that this meeting is cancelled immediately!
