Towards a magnificent May Day

We are approaching May Day, International Workers’ Day. For more than 130 years, International Workers’ Day has been an inspiration and a symbol of the struggle for a better life and for human liberation. Liberation from exploitation and wage slavery and the declaration of workers’ indictment not only against economic exploitation but also against all discrimination and injustice, against repression and lack of rights and against all the sufferings of society. The liberation of society depends on liberation from wage slavery, exploitation and inequality.

As long as there is wage slavery and exploitation, as long as the capitalist system is in place, as long as a parasitic billionaire minority has seized all the resources of society, there is not only poverty, unemployment and deprivation, but also political oppression and all kinds of discrimination and lack of rights. Being stripped of rights and discrimination are inherent in this system and the condition for its survival.

The Islamic regime in Iran, as one of the most backward, brutal and corrupt capitalist regimes, is a clear manifestation of all these injustices and discriminations against the overwhelming majority. It is not without reason that a deep solidarity has been formed between different sections of society against this system. Workers and pensioners, teachers and nurses, women and students, artists and athletes, writers and lawyers, who are the subjects of all kinds of brutal violence and oppression by this system, support each other in various ways and voice the demands of the entire society. If the Islamic Republic is a clear example of all the oppressions of capitalism, the solidarity of different sections of society is also a clear example of the common cause and determination of society to eradicate these oppressions and achieve a free, equal and humane society.

May Day is an opportunity for all oppressed sections of society and all Woman Life Freedom activists to strengthen their solidarity with workers’ protests and to tighten their ranks against poverty and corruption and gross class discrimination, and to overthrow the Islamic regime. This is the only prospect before society in order to get rid of the Islamic regime and all the sufferings that prevail in it.

In a situation where the Islamic Republic has imposed indescribable poverty on the vast majority of the people, while it is at the height of its weakness and crisis, having suffered numerous setbacks in the battle with the brave women and the revolutionary movement of the people, May Day is an opportunity for the united and powerful show of force of activists of the workers’ movement and of all other movements fighting for freedom. At the same time, May Day is an opportunity for the working class and its activists and organisations to raise the banner of liberation of the entire society with greater resolve at the head of the struggle for the overthrow of the Islamic Republic and for the establishment of freedom, equality and prosperity. Forward to a powerful and historic May Day!
